Hard Rock Cafe!

Well, classroom...but the rocks are hard! Using scientific testing, Year 3 have discovered the hardest of four igneous rocks. Which was the winner? Granite, basalt, obsidian or pumice?

And the winner was: GRANITE!! Probably because it is made from magma formed slowly.

Year 3 have approached their new chemistry topic of Rocks with great enthusiasm! So far we have discovered the difference between magma and lava, that there are three types of rocks and that igneous is Latin for fire!

We are enthralled so far, approaching every lesson with our Science Vision Statement:

Be academic.

Be curious.

Be practical.

and this is just the beginning of our exploration!
