What did the kernel ask his friend? What’s popping!

This week, Year 3 have been experiencing what happens to corn kernels under pressure and exploring different seasoning!

For our second meal in our Food and Nutrition topic, we were making popcorn using natural seasoning in different flavours. We learnt that popcorn was popped back in Peru in 4,700 BC and pondered whether they (like us) preferred the savoury to the sweet seasoning.

We also learnt that home-made popcorn is healthier than the shop-bought variety because we use less sugar, salt and fat. However, we were happy to find that the popcorn we made was even tastier!

We will:

Be innovative.

Be hands-on.

Be diagnostic.
