Waterproofing in Year Two

In Year 2 this week, we have been looking at materials that are waterproof.

We have been sorting out different objects to identify those which are waterproof and items which are not waterproof. We came to the conclusion that Wellington boots, swimming caps and a leaf are waterproof. A paper bag, on the other hand, is not waterproof!

We learned about the man who invented waterproof coats and did our investigation on whether glue or oil is waterproof.

We coloured in our umbrella and predicted whether glue or oil would be waterproof once a few drops of water is place on it. We found out that oil is waterproof because water and oil do not mix!

We have certainly lived out our curriculum vision for Science:

Be academic. Be curious. Be practical.
