Storytelling through the Arts!

In Year 3, we have been telling stories through the mediums of Textiles, Music and Dance.

Last half term, we made a quilt of our Favourite Places in the style of textile artist and author Faith Ringgold. Quilting is a historic way of telling stories about the past or present, and we enjoyed crafting our very own, depicting each member of the class flying over different scenarios such as a beach, a mountain or our very own London skyline, imagining how it would be if the this part of the world belonged to us. It also makes a comfy addition to our Reading Corner!

In PE we are preparing for our Dance Showcase, telling the story of how the crowds reacted when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. The children are performing as a group as well as adding their own individual choreography to tell the story of celebration and hope.

Finally, in Music we have been travelling along the Danube accompanied by Strauss' famous walz, learning how rhythm and pulse transports our imaginations from trickling waves to great, swooping rivers!

There can be no doubt that we are committed to our Arts and Music Vision Statements to:

Be creative.

Be inspired.

Be dynamic.

We can't wait to share our learning with you at the upcoming Celebration of Arts Festival!
