In year 2 this week, we have been doing a lot of measuring. 

We looked at rulers and metre sticks. We realised a ruler is used to measure smaller objects around our classroom, such as sharpeners, rubber and pencils. Whilst we couldn't measure our desks or a door with a ruler, we needed a meter stick.

We took our metre sticks outside and found objects which were shorter than a metre stick and others which were taller, such as a tree.

We even order ourselves in height, starting with the shortest in our class to the tallest.
