Budding Botanists!

Chelsea Flower Show is in full swing, and so are Sancho-Thunberg Class!

At St George's, our curriculum statement for Science is:

Be academic. Be curious. Be practical

This week, Sancho-Thunberg class displayed all of those qualities.

The young scientists dissected flowers and explored their structures and functions.

Through hands-on exploration, Year 3 pupils learned to identify and name the various parts of a flower, including the petals, stamen, pistil and sepals.  They also discovered the vital roles each part plays in the life cycle of a plant, from attracting pollinators to producing seeds.

Fantastic learning!

Fantastic flowers!
