Portrait perfection!
This term, Best Class have been making their own portraits in our fine art unit.
We started the unit by looking at our focus artist, who was Frida Kahlo. We looked at a range of her pictures and understood the background and struggles that she has been through to create the world-famous art we see today.
We also looked at a range of techniques that can be used for sketching, such as cross-hatching, stripling and circulism. We practised these skills and then tried to put them into use in a range of media to see the difficulties and ease.
After that, we created our own drawing of a blow-up version of the inside of a fruit. We did this using pastels. We found, as a class, we could get the best methods of creating texture.
Finally, we have followed a professional artists' guide to creating a portrait through only pencil sketching.
We will be creating our final pieces over the next two weeks when we try and create our own version of a Frida Khalo-style picture.
We have done this through our Art Vision:
Be creative.
Be proficient.
Be reflective.
See if you can spot some of our class members from the portraits!
