On the Podium!

Our Year 3/4 Mixed Football Team got the silver medal in the Lewisham Games Tournament!
What an achievement!
On Friday 18th October, we entered the Year 3/4 Mixed Football Competition, led by the Lewisham School Games team.
For some of our year 3 players, this was their first School Games Competition and what an achievement for their first games.
Not only did our footballers win their group, beating some teams 6-0, but then they continued their winning streak in the knock-out rounds.
There were also some goals that top players would be proud of, especially Demarkus scoring a long range volley from his own box! They faced some tough opponents, but then reached the semi-finals and played against another team which was unbeaten in the tournament. It was a very close match, with some great defending and some incredible teamwork. Through this teamwork, the team got the win, which put them in the final. They really showed the P.E values of:
Be passionate.
Be respectful.
Be determined.
Being in the final for the first time in a number of years, nerves were high, but as always, they showed great passion and determination. Again, what a close game, however, St George's narrowly lost 1-0.
The whole team should be incredibly proud of themselves on a fantastic achievement. I am sure, next time they will be sitting with the gold medals!
We look forward to our next tournament, which will be the year 5/6 mixed basketball competition.
